What Is ACCA PM?

ACCA Performance Management (PM) — formerly F5 — is an Applied Skills paper developing your ability to apply management accounting techniques in business decision-making. PM extends MA at Applied Knowledge level and is the prerequisite for APM at Strategic Professional level.

Exam Format

Three hours. Section A: 15 OT questions (15 marks). Section B: three OT case scenarios (30 marks). Section C: two constructed response questions (55 marks). All compulsory.

Core Syllabus Areas

Specialist costing: Activity-Based Costing, target costing, life-cycle costing, throughput accounting, and environmental accounting. Decision-making: relevant cost analysis, limiting factor analysis, make-or-buy, shutdown, pricing decisions, and decisions under uncertainty (expected values, decision trees, sensitivity analysis). Budgeting: functional budgets, fixed vs flexed budgets, variance analysis (sales, materials, labour, overhead, mix and yield variances). Performance measurement: Balanced Scorecard, ROI, RI, EVA, transfer pricing, and not-for-profit measurement.
