What Is ACCA LW?
ACCA Corporate and Business Law (LW) — formerly F4 — is an Applied Skills paper developing your understanding of the legal framework within which businesses and accountants operate. LW is assessed by an on-demand CBE available throughout the year, making it one of the most flexibly scheduled ACCA papers.
Exam Format
Two hours. Section A: 45 OT questions (70 marks). Section B: two written questions (30 marks). All questions are compulsory. Pass mark is 50%.
Core Syllabus Areas
The English legal system: nature and sources of law, court structure, alternative dispute resolution. Contract law: offer and acceptance, consideration, contractual capacity, terms, breach and remedies, misrepresentation, duress, and undue influence. Tort law: negligence and duty of care. Employment law: employees vs contractors, wrongful and unfair dismissal, redundancy, and discrimination. Company law: formation and constitution, share capital, directors' duties under the Companies Act 2006, shareholder rights, and company meetings. Corporate insolvency: voluntary arrangements, administration, receivership, liquidation, and the priority of creditors.
