ACCA Membership: How to Apply and What You Get
A complete guide to ACCA membership - how to apply after qualifying, what the ACCA member benefits are, and FCCA vs ACCA.
Applying for ACCA Membership
Once you have completed all 13 ACCA exams and met the Practical Experience Requirement (36 months of relevant work experience signed off against the ACCA performance objectives), you can apply for ACCA membership. The application is submitted through the ACCA portal and typically takes 2-4 weeks to process. You will need to confirm your experience record is complete and pay the membership application fee.
ACCA vs FCCA
On qualifying, you become an ACCA Member and may use the letters ACCA after your name. FCCA (Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant) is the senior grade, awarded after 5 years of ACCA membership with evidence of ongoing CPD and professional development. FCCA is a mark of seniority and long-term commitment to the profession - it carries additional prestige in some sectors and markets.
CPD as a Member
Once you are an ACCA member, you must complete CPD (Continuing Professional Development) annually. ACCA requires a minimum of 40 CPD units per year, of which at least 21 must be verifiable. ACCA members self-certify their CPD through the ACCA portal. Failing to maintain CPD compliance risks suspension of membership.
Member Benefits
ACCA membership provides: use of the ACCA and CGMA designations; access to ACCA's global jobs board; discounts on ACCA publications, events, and CPD resources; access to ACCA's technical helpline and ethical guidance; member networking events; representation in 180+ countries through ACCA's network of offices and partnerships.
Annual Subscription
ACCA members pay an annual subscription to maintain their membership. The fee is reviewed periodically - check accaglobal.com/fees for the current amount. Failure to pay results in suspension of membership status.
