What Is the CIMA P2 Paper?

Advanced Management Accounting (P2) is the Performance pillar paper at CIMA Management level. It extends P1 into more complex management accounting territory, covering advanced budgeting techniques, pricing strategy, risk and uncertainty in decision-making, and management control systems.

Exam Format

P2 is a 90-minute objective test with 60 questions. Pass mark is scaled. Available on demand. Heavier on application and analysis than P1, with more complex multi-step calculations in some questions.

Practise expected value and decision tree calculations — they appear in most exams. For pricing, make sure you can differentiate TR and MR functions for optimal pricing. The 90-minute format with calculation-heavy questions requires efficient working. Allow 10-14 weeks of part-time study.
