What CIMA Membership Means

CIMA membership — entitling you to use ACMA (Associate Chartered Management Accountant) or FCMA (Fellow) after your name — is achieved by passing all CIMA exams, completing the practical experience requirement, and passing the CIMA membership assessment. CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) is a joint designation from CIMA and AICPA, automatically conferred on CIMA members.

CGMA Designation

The CGMA designation is now included with CIMA membership and is globally recognised, particularly in corporate environments. It signals management accounting expertise to employers in 176 countries. The CGMA Finance Leadership Program is an online competency framework that CIMA members can use to demonstrate skills beyond exam knowledge.

CPD Requirements

CIMA members must complete CPD each year. Unlike ACCA's unit-based system, CIMA uses a competency framework — members should demonstrate development across technical, business, people, and leadership competencies. CIMA's online CPD record allows logging of structured learning, on-the-job development, and reading.
