What ACCA Membership Means

Once you have passed all 13 ACCA exams, completed the Professional Ethics module, and fulfilled the Practical Experience Requirement (36 months of relevant supervised experience), you become an ACCA member — entitled to use the letters ACCA after your name and to be listed in the ACCA member directory. This section covers what membership actually gives you beyond the qualification itself.

Professional Recognition

ACCA members are recognised as qualified accountants in 180+ countries. In the UK, ACCA membership is recognised for statutory audit purposes (ACCA members can sign audit reports for eligible entities). ACCA membership satisfies the accountancy qualification requirements for many financial services roles regulated by the FCA and PRA.

CPD Requirements

ACCA members must complete CPD each year. The requirement is 40 units per year (minimum 21 verifiable), with one unit typically equalling one hour of relevant learning. CPD can include structured courses, conferences, technical reading, on-the-job learning, and writing technical articles. ACCA's online CPD record system (My CPD) tracks and stores your CPD.

ACCA Member Benefits

Access to the ACCA Careers job board, discounts on professional development and events, access to ACCA's technical research library, member rates for ACCA qualifications for dependants, professional indemnity insurance access through ACCA-approved providers, and use of ACCA's global network for introductions and referrals.

Certificates and Specialist Qualifications

As an ACCA member, you can pursue additional ACCA certificates and specialist qualifications including the Certificate in International Auditing, Certificate in Sustainability Reporting, and Diploma in International Financial Reporting (DipIFR). These allow ongoing professional development within the ACCA framework.

Practising Certificates

If you want to work as a sole practitioner or partner in a firm providing regulated services (audit, insolvency, investment business), you need an ACCA Practising Certificate. This requires additional experience requirements and ongoing compliance with ACCA's practice regulations.
