ACCA Taxation (TX-UK) had a published pass rate of 55% at the June 2026 sitting, matching December 2025 and September 2025, with 53% in March 2026 and 54% in June 2025, according to ACCA's pass rates page. That is among the more stable pass rates of the Applied Skills papers. Below you will find the results by sitting, the exam format, the tax year that applies to your sitting and how to prepare.

ACCA TX pass rate by sitting

SittingPass rate shown by ACCA

ACCA's published figures for Taxation (TX-UK) range from 53% to 55% across the sittings shown, and the most recent, June 2026, was 55%. Across the nine Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills papers on ACCA's page, the June 2026 figures run from 41% for Performance Management to 89% for Business and Technology, so TX ranks 5 of 9 by June 2026 pass rate. Two cautions apply to every number on this page. First, ACCA publishes these figures on its pass rates page without calling them global, and its footnote says only that they are the results achieved by students for paper-based and computer-based examinations, so we describe them as ACCA's published pass rates and not as a worldwide average. Second, a pass rate describes a group of candidates and not you: it moves with how well prepared the people sitting that session happened to be. ACCA's next set of results, for the September 2026 sitting, is due on 19 October 2026, and we will refresh this page when ACCA's pass rates page is updated. The pass mark for every ACCA exam is 50%.

TX exam format

TX-UK is a three-hour computer-based exam. According to ACCA's study guide, Section A has 15 two-mark objective test questions, Section B has three cases with five two-mark questions each, and Section C has one ten-mark and two 15-mark constructed response questions. It is an Applied Skills paper with sittings in March, June, September and December.

What TX covers

TX-UK covers the UK tax system as it applies to individuals, companies and unincorporated businesses. The main areas are income tax and national insurance, chargeable gains for individuals and companies, corporation tax, value added tax, and the administration of the tax system. ACCA does not publish topic weightings, so cover the whole study guide.

Where candidates lose marks

ACCA states that the Finance Act 2025 and tax year 2025-26 apply to sittings from 1 June 2026 to 31 March 2027. That matters because rates, allowances and thresholds change from year to year, and using a prior-year rates table is a classic way to lose easy marks. Always confirm that your notes and practice questions are for the tax year ACCA is examining, and check the study guide for what the exam provides, so that you know which rates and allowances you must remember and which you can look up. We have not summarised the specific weaknesses in the latest TX-UK examining team report, so read the most recent report on ACCA's website.

How to prepare for TX

Practise computations until the layout is automatic, then practise the written explanations. A good computation answer shows each step so that you collect method marks even if you slip on a number. For the objective test sections, drill the rules on reliefs, penalties, filing dates and registration limits, because they reward recall. Do timed past-style questions in the three-hour window to practise pacing between the three sections. Our guide to passing TX contains a longer study plan. Keep a short list of the points you repeatedly forget, such as which expenses are allowable or when a relief is withdrawn, and review it in the final week.

What is changing for 2026-27

The relevant change for TX-UK is the annual finance act update rather than a syllabus rewrite. For sittings from 1 June 2026 to 31 March 2027, ACCA examines the Finance Act 2025. Check ACCA's website for the equivalent statement for sittings after 31 March 2027, which we have not seen.
