AAT's new Level 4 qualification
The AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians (L4PAT) opened for registration and teaching on 1 September 2026. It builds on Level 3 and develops advanced technical, analytical and professional skills for accounting and finance roles.
All five units are mandatory: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Audit and Internal Controls, Principles of Taxation, and Advanced Business Awareness. The qualification contains 400 guided learning hours.
Learnsignal tuition is currently available for Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. The remaining L4PAT courses will be added as their content is released and approved.
The qualification supports progression into roles including assistant financial accountant, assistant management accountant, commercial analyst, junior analyst and professional accounting technician.
